FAQs

Why choose Techfunic?

Our small-group online tutoring is affordable, convenient and flexible, with no ongoing commitment required.

Our tutors specialize in socratic tutoring, leading with questions prompting each student to think and arrive at a logical way to approach the problem. Our peer-learning approach is social and interactive, driving high engagement and is especially conducive to children on the neurodiversity spectrum.

Our programs help children to develop strong self-study habits that enable them to do their homework faster and get higher grades in STEM classes, which in turn increases their confidence and performance in all subjects.

In what subject areas does Techfunic offer tutoring?

We specialize in small-group tutoring in three subject areas: Technology, Math, and Language.

Our Tech Junior program is perfect for children in grades 3-6 who are looking to learn basic coding concepts. We teach MIT Scratch and Berkley Snap through our game-based, no-code platforms and experiential learning models.

Our Java / Python program for grades 7-12 introduces middle school and high school students to low-code game/app development and data mining through fun projects.

Our AP Computer Science course guides high school students through Harvard University’s curriculum, with the option to purchase certification at the end.

Our Math programs include MathFun to cultivate a love of math in younger children and MathEnrich to provide supplemental help or enrichment in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I/II, Geometry, Pre-Calc, and Calc A/B or B/C.

Our Language class is currently focused on Malayalam, with Hindi and Spanish coming soon.

Why is it important for a child to learn Tech/Coding?

Technology is the future, and coding is the new literacy! STEM jobs pay in the top 3% across all industries, and children who learn to code in middle school and high school are 75% more likely to choose Computer Science degrees.

Many schools in the US do not have a core coding curriculum, missing the opportunity to expose the child early to fundamentals of technology. Children who have not developed their programming muscle are less likely to chose APs or explore undergraduate degrees in Computer Science.

Who are your tutors?

Our tutors are handpicked from top-tier STEM universities globally. They are hand-picked using a 5-step testing & interview process. Those selected go through our rigorous training program of premium resources, Socratic tutoring and using Khan Academy to improve self-study patterns of the child.

Why is there a change in my child's tutor?

Tutors are assigned to classes based on their expertise and availability.  When a tutor is unavailable, we handle a temporary or permanent handover seamlessly using our signature 5 step transition process in a way that the new tutor is familiar with the custom lesson plan for the class. At Techfunic, we are a full service educational support platform abs we handle this so, you as a parent is not bogged down by scheduling and bringing the new tutor up to speed.
